Fonderia Augusta operates within the framework of an integrated Quality, Safety and Environmental Management System compliant with UNI EN ISO 9001:2015, UNI ISO 45001:2018, UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 and UNI CEI EN ISO 50001:2018 regulations and certified by TÜV Italia.
Fonderia Augusta’s focus on quality in steel castings begins with the careful selection of raw materials, continues with monitoring of the entire production process, and is completed with quality controls to guarantee that the steel castings comply with the order specifications.
The management of Fonderia Augusta’s production process allows for production batches to be traced in all stages of manufacturing.

Non destructive examinations

Fonderia Augusta carries out quality inspections during both the production process and the final testing phase in order to ensure that the steel castings comply with order specifications. Both internal and external qualified laboratories carry out controls on the entire production process. The main controls carried out on castings are:

  • Analysis of the chemical composition of the processed alloy (via quantometer) - Explore the most highly requested steels
  • Visual and dimensional inspections on castings
  • Non-destructive tests (LP/MT/UT/RT)
  • Mechanical tests

Internal laboratories

Fonderia Augusta directly manages the following tests for quality control and material certification:

  • Chemical analysis
  • Non-destructive tests
    • Dimensional/visual inspections
    • Hydrostatic pressure tests on raw castings (not certified)
    • Magnetic Particle Tests (MT)
    • Liquid Penetrant Tests (LP)

Fonderia Augusta carries out these tests and analyses in accordance with its integrated management system procedures; furthermore, NDT operators are certified Level 2 in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9712 and ASNT SNT-TC1A Regulations for Non-Destructive Testing LP, MT and VT.

External laboratories

For the tests below, we rely on the collaboration of qualified laboratories that are:

  • certified in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9712 and ASNT SNT-TC1A regulations for volumetric tests
    • Ultrasonic testing - UT
    • Radiographic Examinations - RT
  • certified in accordance with ISO 17025 regulations for
    • Mechanical properties
    • Metallographic analysis
    • Corrosion resistance tests
    • High temperature tests
    • Creep tests

Fonderia Augusta is able to offer a production batch traceability service to all its customers. The communication of data in real time between production plants and our management system allows each customer of Fonderia Augusta to monitor the situation of their orders. By accessing a special reserved area on the website, customers can verify the stage of production, highlight any urgencies, keep track of the documentation of each order, download the quality certificates of materials and consult the updated Nickel and Molybdenum price charts.


The steel foundry has been included on the list of RINA and Statoil approved manufacturers, and has obtained Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) (2014/68/EU) Annex I, Section 4.3, AD 2000-Merkblatt W 0, Recognition for BV Mode II Scheme, Lloyd's Register, ABS - American Bureau of Shipping and DNV-GL Marine product certifications regarding castings in carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex and other alloys. Furthermore, the entire manufacturing process for castings in duplex and super-duplex stainless steels, including heat treatment carried out internally, has been qualified in accordance with the NORSOK M-650 standard.
The company offers clients the possibility to download certificates for collected products and to monitor their orders in real-time by accessing their own dedicated account.
